The kaspersky mobile security consists of the following security applications:

Firewall

The Kaspersky firewall provides the ability to block incoming connections, block all connection other then standard  applications (Web browsing, email, etc’) and block all connections. It’s not as flexible as standard PC firewall but it provides basic network security. The block all mode is useful when roaming and you would like to eliminate the risk that some application will connect to the internet via expensive 3G network.

Antivirus

Kaspersky is well known brand in the antivirus software for PCs market.  It has the same functionality of scanning the phone for viruses and malware. The antivirus database automatically updates using a scheduled download of the latest updates from Kaspersky servers.

Anti-Theft

Anti theaft is quite important feature that allows one of the following actions via SMS when the phone got stolen.

Send SMS with command and predefined password to perform one of the following actions:

• Block – Block phone until password typed.
• Wipe – Wipe all personal information.
• GPS – Locate the phone by getting SMS with GPS location.

SIM watch- If the thief replace the SIM with another SIM the application will send SMS to predefined phone number when the new SIM first time used.

Anti Spam

Block unwanted phone calls or SMS messages. It can be done using black list, list of phone numbers to block. Another option is to use white list to block only specific phone numbers.

Parental controls

The parents control provides the ability to block outgoing phoe calls and SMS messages. It’s possible to define black list for blocking specifc phone numbers or white lists to allow calls and messages to specific numbers only.

Encryption

Encryption of specific folders. The folder will be accessible only after typing the password. it’s also possible to auto lock these folders.

Privacy Protection

Automaticaly hide specific contacts details, SMS messages and phone logs.

Kaspersky mobile security provides many security features to protect your phone and privacy, it cost some money but I think it worth it.

The application provides following features:

• Access to personal account: Favorites, Subscriptions (to channels), Play list and My videos.

7- Related videos (to the video currently watched)

8 – Copy link to the video (and then use paste to send by email or to add to document)

# – Flag as inappropriate (How use it so often that he needs shortcut for it?…. )

During video playback

Right and left arrows – Rewind or Fast Forward
Up and Down arrows – Increase/Reduce volume

Those of you who are looking for other then the standard voice guide would be happy to know that Nokia released new application, Own Voice for Ovi Maps.

The application  has 2 main features:

• Record guidance using your own voice
• Select from other precoded audios made by other users.

Downloading of pre-recorded voice guidance takes some time, make sure you have fast internet connection. Once downloaded or recorded your own guidance open the Ovi maps application and for audio guidance select “Own voice”.

Please note that the application is supported by latest ovi maps application (3.03 and above)

UPDATE

For those who asked how to use the feature, first of all make sure that the feature is enabled.

Menu-> Ctrl. panel-> Settings ->General -> Sensors-> Turning Control. Make sure that Silence Calls and Snoozing alarms are marked.

When the phone starts to ring on incoming call, flip the phone face down and wait few seconds. it takes some times until the phone’s ringer turns to silence mode.

The feature can also be used the same way when using alarm and you would like to snooze.

Filter Type –

• Block blacklist- Blocks only specific calls and SMS.
  
• Accept Whitelist – Block all calls and SMS accept to speicific numbers.
• Block All
• Accept Contacts – Accept calls and SMS only from numbers in contacts list.
• Block Hidden – Block only hidden calls.

Hidden – Accept or Block hidden calls

Applies to - Apply the block rules to SMS, Calls or both.

Action - Block the cal, Block and send SMS or forward the call to other number.

Blocklist/Whitelist – Add numbers to the list.

Filter Name – Name of the  filter to be displayed.

The profiles can be applied manually or scheduled.

SmartConnect (SC) was added to Nokia E72 as part of the last firmware update (031.023). The purpose of this application it to allow easy and fast connection to the internet. let’s see if it does the job like it should…

I would expect this kind of application to support following features:
1. definition of connections groups (Both 3G and WiFi)
2. Auto switching between connections according to priorities
3. Auto connection to WiFi hot spots with portal

The E72 supports destinations as I mentioned in one of my previous posts. Destination is group of connections. So this issue is not a problem.

Second issue is really important feature, most of us have limited 3G connection and prefer to have connection over free wifi when possible. Unfortuantly this version of SC does not support it
Auto connection to hotspost with portal is nice to have feature, SC claims to support it using WISPr protocol. I didn’t try it so I can’t say if it works but as far as I know this protocol won’t support all cases. for example some of the hotspots  have just welcome screen that needs to be confirm, I don’t think that WISPr supports it.

Not sure why Nokia decided to add this application to the phone, They should have provide application that provides a real value to it’s users. What do you think?

Nokia provides a customized theme for each version, in the new 031.023 firmware you’ll find two new themes for the E72 white: personal and business white.
