New Firmware 071.004


New firmware available for the Nokia E72, The new firmware version is 071.004.

The update is done using the NOKIA OVI Suite or OTA (Over The Air).

Nokia OVI Suite

Connect the Nokia E72 to the PC, and start the Nokia OVI Suite.

Click on Software update then the application backup the phone, download the application and upgrade the phone. The process takes about 15 minutes.

Over The Air

Type *#0000# -> Options -> Check for update.

    Just wondering. Will the update wipe out the data?

    It just wiped out my Bluetooth. My headset and iSync won’t work anymore :(
    I am not recomending this uppdate untill this being fixt.

    Great update but back up your phone first. Fixed all freezing and sluggish behavior issues and added some nice albeit discreet new features and looks! Hats off NOKIA!!!

    this update sucks! it keeps my phone hanging especially when i’m about to reply for the text messages. i don’t recommend this update.

    This firmware update is a disaster – I now cannot sync with my GMail accounts using Mail for Exchange. Did a hard reset as recommended – now I’ve lost all contacts and calendar entries as well, and no means of re-syncing them with GMail.

    Could someone from Nokia either bring out a fix or tell us how to back to the previous firmware.

    Hey, remember to reboot manually. I shut it off, take a battery for a couple of minutes, then restart.
    I know there is a GMAIL app for symbian now, I wonder if that will sync contact or not with gmail, or just access the contact…

    OMG, you guys are right. I can’t get MFE to sync. Horrible thing to happen. I constantly get a pop-up, unable to sync…

    I updated over the air and had to reboot the system twice. Immediately, I noticed few changes to graphics including colours.

    I haven’t had the issues like others. Calendar notes didn’t erase. Messages, galleries, and data were intact. I didn’t even backup as I hate the stupid Ovi Suite. Ovi is one hell of waste of time, super sluggish, and gets large update every week. I even sign-up for an account which I lost the password and I have no way to recover it; reminds me of 1995!

    The email client never worked on my phone and since Nokia sucks at consumer support at best, I didn’t get it fixed. However, Gmail client works fine as before the update.

    One last note: I noticed Google has discontinued supporting Nokia S60 devices with their stand-alone mobile apps. Nokia users may now use the web-based versions of Gmail, Maps, and YouTube on their phones! Google wants people to shift to Nexus, but I rather hold on to my current phone until Ovi improves and I shall buy the E72 successor.

    I updated my E52 to 071.004 and now iSync does not work anymore. I tried everything …. it stopped working. Will it need a new iSync plugin from Nokia?
    Please help ….

    Dont upgrade!!! My existing email services wont work after upgrade. I removed the email accounts and tries to re-configure (Gmail and my office mail). But the new email wizard doesn’t move ahead the ‘Detecting email settings’ screen. Now I ended up with no email on my e72 :( . If any anyone had this issue fixed, please do post over here.

    Never!Never!Never! update to the last firware 071.004…
    I smashed my phone in the ground.
    1.Only HTML e-mail clients without cyrillic support.I can’t read a single mail in cyrillic.
    Some times the mail app stop responding during receiving new mail.
    2.The web browser is crazy.On some sites when the mouse passes over a link the browser opens it  without any action from me.It constantly opens link after link.
    3.The camera is dead…I mean I can’t use it.I press camera button then the screen flashes and nothing happen- back to my home screen.
    4.I can’t make or receive video call I think due to camera issue.

    Those are the major bugs.There is at least another 5-6 issues.I loved nokia before this s*it called “firmware update” happened.I smashed my phone in the ground.Now I have a new panel…I tried soft reset, hard reset … nothing helps..
    So now I have to wait nokia developers to sit down and fix all this bugs.Until then I don’have phone…

    There’s a bug: after this update typing a Company name won’t find the company from your contacts. It finds only First Name or Last Name of a contact.
